Background
The Carter Lake Elementary School, George Beadle Middle School located on the north side of Council Bluffs, is a southwest Omaha is a 80,000 SF, $9 million educational facility is one of 12 elementary schools in the Council Bluffs Community School District. The elementary school houses a large commons area, media center, classrooms, a gymnasium and study areas. The original construction was completed in July, 2011 in time for the start of the Fall 2012 semester.
The primary heating and cooling is provided through a geothermal ground loop system that was created by drilling 265 wells throughout the jobsite. Engineered Controls began working with the Council Bluffs Community School District starting in 2008 and over the next eight years, Engineered Controls completed 15 different school projects for the district.
The building management system consists of a KMC digital control system and controls a mixture of mechanical and electrical equipment including ERVs, MAUs, RTHPs, WSHPs, Boilers, Geothermal HP Loop, Pumps, VFDs, and EFs.
The KMC digital control network monitors and controls in excess of 7,500 points.
