BEADLE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Omaha, NE
Background
The George Beadle Middle School located in southwest Omaha is a 126,000 SF, $11 million educational facility owned by the Millard Public Schools. The middle school houses classrooms, libraries, a gymnasium, computer and science labs, and study areas. The original construction was completed in July, 2001 and within budget in time for the start of the Fall 2001 semester.
The primary heating and cooling is provided through a geothermal ground loop system that was created by drilling 385 wells throughout the jobsite. The George Beadle Middle School contains miles of data cabling, and features several high-tech classrooms equipped with linked televisions, DVD players, and computers.
Engineered Controls began working with the Millard Public Schools on the Beadle MS project starting in 2000. Over the years there have been many upgrades and revisions to the mechanical systems and controls in general. Since then, Engineered Controls has been assisting MPS operations personnel in streamline building operations to reduce energy consumption and provide optimal comfort.
The building management system consists of a Honeywell WEBs system architecture and controls a mixture of mechanical and electrical equipment including ERVs, RTUs, WSHPs, Boilers, Geothermal HP Loop, Pumps, VFDs, EFs and Emergency Generators.
The Honeywell WEBs network monitors and controls in excess of 8,800 points.
