CORNHUSKER HOTEL
Lincoln, NE
Background
For nearly a century there has been a Cornhusker Hotel serving the public in Lincoln, NE. The newest revision to the hotel site was completed in 1984 when the 10-story, 305 room hotel and adjoining seven-story office building, convention center and parking garage was completed. Located in downtown Lincoln, this upscale hotel is a 6-minute walk from the Nebraska State Capitol and an 8-minute walk from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Since 2001, Engineered Controls has worked with the Cornhusker Hotel to develop a process to start replacing the existing pneumatic controls in the hotel. Today, with an upgraded control system, Engineered Controls works with The Cornhusker Hotel operations personnel in reducing utility consumption and at the same time providing optimal tenant comfort.
The building management system consists of a Honeywell WEBs system architecture and controls a mixture of mechanical and electrical equipment including RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, EFs, Chiller and Boiler plant and multiple 3rd Party integration with other vendor open protocol equipment.
One particular project we are working on is the installation of 270 HP of VFD’s for three air handlers which will create a total reduction in utilities of 1.2 Million KW and estimated annual savings in excess of $85,000.
The Honeywell WEBs network monitors and control in excess of 25,000 points.
