AIR FORCE WEATHER AGENCY FACILITY
Offutt, NE
Background
The Air Forces new Weather Agency facility (AFWA) headquarters is located at US Strategic Command site at Offutt AFB, NE. The 188,000 square foot technology center is responsible for providing around-the-clock weather analyses, forecasts, and warnings for global climatological intelligence to military, DOD decision-makers, national agencies, and allied nations for the planning and execution of missions across the complete spectrum of world-wide military operations. AFWA Facility achieved LEED Gold certification.
Engineered Controls began working with the Air Force Weather Agency in 2006 as part of the original construction team. AFWA wanted a contractor that could deliver a state of the art building management system with open communications protocols to obtain the flexibility and interoperability they desired. The combination of Engineered Controls and Honeywell’s WEBs product met all of AFWA’s needs for today and into the future.
The building management system consists of a Honeywell WEBs system architecture with an interface to a local Honeywell EBI system for remote monitoring. The controls consist of a large centralized boiler and chiller plant served AHUs, VAVs, FPBs, FCUs, BCs and CRAC units.
Engineered Controls provided all the product, electrical installation and commissioning labor, and provide all required site commissioning with the US Corp of Engineers.
The Honeywell WEBs network monitors and controls in excess of 10,500 points.
